UK or Ireland? Your key is IELTS Academic

Short answer: if you're heading to the UK, Ireland, Canada or Australia, the exam that opens the most doors is IELTS Academic. Many British universities only accept IELTS, and it's also valid for study visas.

Ideal if…

Your destination is the UK, Ireland, Canada or Australia.

• Many British universities only accept IELTS.
• Valid for study visas.
• At BFS: real mock exams.

What the exam looks like

IELTS Academic tests all four skills: Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. Speaking is a one-to-one interview with an examiner. Scores run in bands from 1 to 9 (half bands too), and each university sets its own requirement — so check your programme's exact score before you start preparing. Results are usually accepted for two years.

How we prepare it at British Fleming School
